Coconuts are awesome for you! They are high in fat but if eaten in their natural state (not in sugary macaroons), they can help you lose fat! Yes, that’s right – you can lose fat by eating fat. Although coconuts contain saturated fat, it’s a special type that is metabolized like a healthy fat instead 🙂 Sweet!
My favorite coconut products are coconut milk and coconut oil. You can use coconut milk in Indian curries or protein shakes, or even make creamy soups. Coconut oil can be used instead of butter and it tastes AMAZING in stir frys or omelets. You can usually pick it up at a health food store or the organic food section of the regular grocery store. When eating a meal high in fat, try to limit your starch and carbohydrate intake in that meal and vice versa. Carbs and fats are not friends when it comes to fat loss!
COCONUT GREEN TEA PROTEIN SHAKE
What you need:
– 1/2 cup cold green tea
– 1/2 cup coconut milk
– 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
– ice cubes
Put liquid ingredients into the blender first. Then add ice cubes and protein. Put on the lid and then blend until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy!
*Not a good shake for before or after a workout.
